Service Projects
Service projects provide excellent opportunities for group bonding while making a positive impact on the children served and the participants involved. We have identified a few successful projects from the past. If you are interested in any of these, please contact us for more information and support.
Filling Backpacks with Supplies
Filling Backpacks with Supplies – Assembled backpacks not only save our volunteers time, but they also allow us to allocate our monetary donations to other areas. These backpacks will have a significant impact on the children we serve. We are grateful for your generosity in donating and assembling these backpacks. Please reach out to us if you would like us to make you a flyer that you can print and use.
Here’s how to organize this project:
Packs of Hope can provide backpacks if you would like. We can buy backpacks at a discounted price, and by using our backpacks, you can focus on the items that go inside the backpacks.
For this drive, we have found it easier to focus on specific size (age) groups rather than collecting items for all sizes (ages). The groups to consider are babies, toddlers, children, and teens.
- Set a Start Date: Choose a date to begin your donation drive.
- Contact Packs of Hope to arrange for backpacks to be delivered.
- Create a Sign-Up: Use a sign-up tool (such as Sign-up Genius) to inform people about what items to collect and how many of each item you need.
- Collect Items: Gather all the necessary items.
- Set a Packing Date: Decide on a date to pack the backpacks.
- Sort Donations: On packing day, sort and organize the donated items.
- Fill Backpacks: Fill the backpacks with the collected items.
- Arrange Pickup: Contact Packs of Hope to schedule a pickup for the completed backpacks.
*Please place toiletries in plastic bags to prevent any leaks from getting on clothing.*
The assembly part of this project takes between 30 to 60 minutes.

Coloring Bookmarks and Leaving an Encouraging Word
Coloring Bookmarks and Leaving an Encouraging Word – Every child wants to feel seen and valued. By creating these bookmarks, you help us achieve this. Homemade gifts are a heartfelt gesture. By adding encouraging words, you can bring hope, joy, and inspiration to a child in desperate need.
Here’s how to organize this project:
To get started, please contact Packs of Hope to request the bookmarks we use.
- Print out the bookmarks on regular copy paper; we will laminate them for you.
- Gather a group to color the bookmarks together.
- Write an encouraging message on the back of each bookmark.
- Arrange to send the completed bookmarks to Packs of Hope. If you are close to our location, you can deliver them in person, or we can arrange to pick them up from you.
